From sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to Mother Agnes of Jesus – September 20, 1939

V + J! From our Caen monastery this 20th September 1939

Darling little Mother,

I was overjoyed to receive your letter. I was very worried about my beloved Carmel. I wept when I received the traditional blue banknotes for our dear saint’s feast day. I certainly wasn’t expecting them given the sad times we’re living in, which makes it all the more touching, and we thank you most profusely. Have faith through thick and thin, beloved Mamma! Yes, surely, under this sign you shall conquer (the Holy Cross of our adorable Saviour and divine King).

When will the much-desired book about our Holy Pontiff and his Star be published?

I recommend our retreats to your prayers, darling little sisters, because the 1st group usually begins theirs under the protection of our beloved little Thérèse. We’re so happy to be able to celebrate her feast day with you, as I have been for several years now.

With love and kisses from the bottom of my loving and grateful heart,

Sr Françoise-Thérèse
