Christmas! Christmas 1940

Beloved little sisters,

I want all my New Year’s wishes to be heavenly, placed as they are in the hands and Heart of our little King of love. It is more than likely that there will no longer be three of us in this valley of tears at the most blessed feast of Christmas. Little sisters, I’m increasingly surrendered; I only want God’s will. I choose all, as did Godmother(1) and her goddaughter.

Our dear Mother has come back to us at last and really looks well. But she must take things very easy. The bishop is adamant about this following such scares. I have the manifest joy of sharing a room with her in the infirmary. Look how spoilt and fortunate I am . . .

I would like to know, little sisters, whether you suffered from last November’s storm. It was like a hurricane. It caused some damage to our roof.

I’ve noticed that the dear Carmelites of Gravigny call our Thérèse nothing other than “little Thérèse”. I deeply dislike it because it’s not respectful.

With fond kisses,

Sr Françoise-Thérèse
