From Sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) to her two Carmelite sisters - May 25th 1941

V + J! From our Caen monastery this 25th May 1941

Beloved little sisters,

My heart is full to bursting at seeing so much affection on your part. The tears I shed are very sweet. I can feel your prayers significantly helping me climb my Calvary, together with the blessings of our family up above, and in particular those of our holy Visitandine Aunt whom I love so dearly and venerate still. Our Mamma Lamb believes that once I’m gone, the close ties that exist between our two families with diminish considerably. I personally think the contrary. I beg of you, reassure her, for it pains her, and me as well as a result. Do you have any more propaganda pictures left to give her? Her large and very generous heart is insatiable when it comes to pleasing others and spreading devotion to her favourite saint.

This is a little note from the soul of a great sinner, one who cannot be afraid of God! On the contrary, it’s my extreme poverty that makes me so confident and it fills me with joy to think that, when I leave the maternal arms of our beloved Mother, I’ll quite naturally fall into those of Jesus and my heavenly Mamma. How bold I am!!

I’m so pleased to know that the Constitutions relating to our revered Aunt are in your hands.

Your little sister who loves you so very dearly

Sr Françoise-Thérèse
