+ Jesus J.M.J.T. [Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Teresa] 26th June 1899

Beloved little sister,

It’s with great joy that I write to you today and say that my whole heart will be with you on the 30th. I don’t need to tell you that my Communion will be for you, and that I’ll be with you wherever you go on the wonderful and unforgettable day of your betrothal. This celebration will be merely a prelude to an even more wonderful one: your holy vows. Your turn to see this day will come, darling little sister. You’ve deserved it on account of your great aspirations, or rather, Jesus will give you the grace to deserve it, because we can never say with certainty that we deserve such an immense favour. Religious vocation is a mystery: Jesus calls to Him whom He will. It is He who chooses us, and not we who choose Him.

But coming back to the wonderful feast on Friday, the last in our family; if only you knew how complete the celebration will be on earth and in heaven! If only you knew, if only you could see!

Papa and Mamma will be so proud to see their last child consecrate herself to Jesus the King of Heaven, as will our four little angels, and our beloved Thérèse, “your Guardian Angel”. Oh, yes! Imagine them radiant and beaming as they offer you to the Lord like a radiant and beautiful flower, one that is all the more beautiful for the many storms it has had to brave.

Darling sister, very soon, we’ll be called to the eternal feast in the Homeland, to the Wedding that has no sunset and over which no evening sadness will cast its shadow. There, in our Homeland, there’ll be no more things that cost us dear, and no more little lamps to clean. Instead, we shall truly be Queens, forever, at the right hand of our King, and we shall eternally do as we wish.

Darling sister, be brave whilst we’re on earth. The time to rest will come all too soon and there are very many souls to save. They are just waiting for our sacrifices to deserve heaven and to be forever bought back from hell.

Darling little fiancée of Jesus, I’ll leave you with lots of kisses, and love, you who are my little companion in misfortune,

Geneviève of St Teresa

unw.carm.nun. [unworthy Carmelite nun]

My affectionate respects to your Mothers.
