Darling little sister,

I don’t want to let the Turn Sisters leave without sending you a little note. Oh, if only you knew how happy we are to hear about the miracle that took place in your monastery. Since last week, when Francis (1) announced it to us, we’ve been dying to have more detailed news, real news that is, from the heart and mouth of our darling little sister. And we received it and read it out to the community. Oh, we’re so happy! It’s a lovely example of a healing miracle, one of the best we have in fact, because it was instantaneous. I’d very much like God to do as much for us. Our dear Mother’s illness is becoming worse and worse, and without a miracle, we won’t keep her for long. Alas, what a huge loss it will be! I can’t tell you how good and devoted she has been. She took the Cause very much to heart. She was ready to give her all for Thérèse and now she’s going to die, leaving poor Little Mother very alone and with a huge workload. This past year has been a happy one for “Little Mother”, what with the cruel trials and tribulations that she’s had to bear since the time of you know who (2). Poor little Mother! I dare not think about the future when I see her, because everything will fall to her. As you have so much faith, pray for her recovery. The other day at the end of a novena, we wanted to imitate you and we all kept vigil for part of the night in front of the Bl. Sacrament, but nothing came of it! Oh, we’re mindful not to complain, and we kiss the hand of God despite this trial, though without understanding His designs. Everything seems at odds with our affairs, whereas they used to be ever so well organised. But there always has to be misery on earth. Otherwise, things wouldn’t go well!

I send you my love, darling Léonie, and I’m very pleased that you were the one whom Thérèse favoured. You deserve to be spoilt! With lots of love and kisses to you and your dear Mothers

P.S. by Sister Marie of the Sacred Heart:

Your letter brought me so much pleasure, darling little sister! But I can’t write to you today, having spent my day copying out a letter recounting graces for you, which you wouldn’t have read otherwise.

And then there’s your dear Mother! Her letter touched me. She’s so kind! You are so fortunate, little sister. May God keep your beloved Mothers for many years to come.
