Jesus +                                            11th April 1914

Darling little sister,

Our Mother has permitted me to write to you because we sing Alleluia today. I only have two minutes, because I have to spruce up the Bl. Virgin’s oratory, and it will take me until this evening. You have heard the great news! It is now official: the discussion will take place on 9th June and we are in the firm hope that the outcome will be positive. This is a lovely gift for Easter, and for St Leo’s day, which I haven’t forgotten.

There’s another thing that will make you happy, but it hasn’t been published yet. It’s a version of Thérèse’s life story for children. It has been written by a Jesuit priest (Don’t mention this to Jeanne. She hears about matters only when they’re already underway. It’s pointless putting spanners in the works. We have quite enough as it is, without intentionally adding any more).

Did you know that Marie Hassebroucq is engaged to Mr Franz de Corter? We heard it from a third party, because Mrs H. doesn’t write any more. What a poor state that family’s in! And now two others will be miserable.

I must hurry. I send all my love

Your little sister

P.S. by Mother Agnes of Jesus.

Happy feast day! Alleluia, little sister and beloved child!! I just have the time to sing it with you. O, I do so most wholeheartedly this year!!!!!

It’s no longer a secret; our Cause will be examined on 9th June. Let’s hope the negotiations are favourable and that the Holy Father will sign the Introduction of the Cause of our dear little sister in heaven.

You will notice the date. 9th June is the anniversary of the day our angel made her Self-Offering to God’s Merciful Love.

I send my love, much-beloved little sister. Once again, together we raise our song of thanksgiving and proclaim in unison that “the Lord is good, and has shone His mercy upon us.”

As Mgr de Teil received the great news from Rome and the Postulator (he wrote to me yesterday), I’m telling you that it’s no longer a secret.

Sr Marie of the S.H. will write at a later date. She is sorry she’s not ready. She was lacking time yesterday, not heart.
