Darling little Léonie,

I’m just writing two lines to let you know that I’m sending you a little parcel that you’ll like.

Yet what brought us much more pleasure than all the gifts in the world was our Léonie’s letter. [Written by Mother Agnes of Jesus:] Oh, how true! Mamma. Yes, it was very in keeping with our family values and with the way of the truth, and it was with tears in our eyes that we saw that we were right in thinking that you are very humble and willing to act with the upmost faithfulness in little things, just like your Thérèse.

Léonie, always use this path to guide you and you’ll have no need for spiritual directors. Those who are stifled by their need to confide in others are unfaithful souls. Being faithful to God renders the soul simple, so simple in fact that it would be impossible for that soul to split itself between mankind and God: conversing with creatures would become torture.

With my love, darling little sister

Sr Geneviève of St Teresa

[P.S. by Mother Agnes of Jesus:]

We’re sending the little parcel via someone.
