Darling little sister,

As our Mother (who has every right) is writing to you for Christmas, you’ll understand that, without further ado, we’re cutting Advent short and coming to talk to you!

The memory of your visit here is still very sweet and since then, I’ve dreamt several times that you came back. One day you were passing through on your way to Dreux, and another day it was a different reason that brought you back among us.

Unfortunately it was only a dream, but fortunately I don’t need to see you again to feel close to you. The bond between our hearts and souls is extremely strong.

And now Christmas is almost upon us. This wonderful feast was extremely dear to our little Thérèse. I pray that the divine child will be born in our souls even more tangibly than in previous years and that He transforms us completely this time. Ah, He is the only treasure we possess, Him alone. Even those we love the most are not indispensable to our happiness and we are indispensable to no one. In the community, for example, each of us goes about her own work, and we affected very little by what goes on outside. We mean nothing to others, nothing at all. Oh, this life certainly detaches us from earth! Oh, our hearts long to be united with the Infinite, the One who created us for Him alone.

I have nothing new to tell you other than that I still have a great deal of work to do and little free time. And after Christmas, once the licences to speak are over, it will be even worse due to our Mother’s feast day.

I send you a kiss, darling little Léonie. I wish you a happy New Year. You know that I love you with all my heart. Your little sister
