Dear little Léonie,

I thank you for your feast day wishes. I knew you wouldn’t forget me. I’m very privileged, because some priests said Mass for my intentions. We owe all these graces to our dear little saint, and not because of any merit on our part. Also, what immense gratitude we owe to God!

You asked me, dear little sister, for news of my notebook. It’s in the hands of Fr Dubosq, being edited. He has promised that I’ll have it back by the end of the holidays. Then, I will need to take account of his observations and copy my work out again, which will take a bit of time.

Fr Dubosq has recognised the opportunity that this collection of quotations represents. It will serve as a basis for writers who want to study our little saint’s spirituality. Unfortunately, it won’t be published until she is beatified. How I long for her beatification! It’s so annoying for our work to have its wings clipped like this, and held up. God alone knows what we’ve suffered. After the beatification, everything will run smoothly and things will be so easy that God won’t need us anymore and will come for us, because we will have completed our mission. Until then, I don’t think we’ll go to the resting place; there’s too much to do.

At the moment, it’s Rev. Fr Marie-Bernard’s statue that is keeping me very busy. I find it most providential and charming that a friar is the one sculpting our little Thérèse. I’ve noticed that she is only ever approached by priests.

Darling little sister, I send you all my love and kisses.
