Darling little sister,

I’m writing to say goodbye before Advent. The other evening, I heard the reading from the prophet Joel. I thought of my Léonie and I said to myself, “Look out! Here is the signal for silence!” But why speak of silence? Even in the present age, our souls never cease to communicate with one another. What’s more, we have our Beloved, in whom we can always confide. He is there beside us. He is attentive to our every movement. He loves us very deeply and is very happy when we in turn give Him tokens of our love. However, He asks for nothing. Often, if not always, He leaves us free to be generous or frugal.

One day when I was in adoration before the Bl. Sacrament, I left without good reason, struck by Jesus’ silence. In the same way that He does not blame us, He does not compliment us when we are faithful, but He records everything in His Heart. Oh, we mustn’t let ourselves be distracted from this one occupation. And we must use our freedom to spoil Jesus! We have but this lifetime to do so. After that, it will be His turn.

At the moment, I have a great deal of work, as usual. We spoke to the architect in the hope of resuming our building work and the construction of the chapel and shrine. I’m also seeing to the shrine, the main altar, and statues. In short, I’m not lying idle. When everything is decided and underway, I’ll send you the sketch. Spare a little prayer for me, so that everything might be done according to God’s wishes.

I send you all my love, dear little Léonie, and I’m very glad that you had a good retreat. If only you knew how much God loves you!

Your little sister,

Sr Geneviève of the Holy Face

Hello and good evening little Sr and beloved daughter. I don’t have a minute more to chat, but if only you knew how often I think of you, how much love for you there is in my little heart, and how hard I’m praying for you to become a little saint!
