Darling little sister,

I’m bidding you my Advent farewell hastily because I’m ever so busy with the building work. I don’t do anything else; my time is spread between the workers. I almost never have any recreation, because I make up the time in any way I can.

Sr Marie-Emmanuel, who is in the same boat, wrote me this little note:

“Take comfort, little Sister, for our meagre afflictions are building the future Pilgrimage centre faster than Mr Adeline’s stone bricks. Our blood, sweat and tears have gone into them, and “Thérèse” will turn them into roses of grace. I pray that she helps us to see our work through!”

Pray for me, darling little sister, because I’m hardly virtuous. I’ve reached the age of 52 and have made very little progress in exercising patience.

I love you with all my heart,

Sr Geneviève of the Holy Face
