Darling little sister,

How many more times will we meet up again at Christmas? Very few no doubt. Little Thérèse is waiting for us. She is preparing us a place beside her. The beatification year was a jubilee year, so it needed to be one of interrupted joy; no sorrow could be tolerated. But what will 1924 be made of? Perhaps Jesus will bring one of our little boats to the eternal port. It will be very distressing for those who are left on the stormy sea of the world, but their time in exile will be extremely brief! I can’t believe that I’m one of the old ones now. I feel so young at heart and in soul. In just 25 more years, we’ll have gone from mature to very old, as very old age begins at 55. Life is so short!

As for the pilgrimages, winter is our time of rest, so we have fewer visitors and disturbances. However, we have had a few pilgrim groups. Recently, there was the French Women’s Council, accompanied by a Dominican priest. Then there was a military pilgrimage. Nothing is more touching. There were soldiers of all branches and all uniforms, including marines and Senegalese soldiers. One black man carried the French flag and sung the hymns and Latin parts of the liturgical prayers with great gusto. The soldiers spent their night at the church hall in adoration before the Bl. Sacrament, and then spent almost their entire day in our chapel. At the evening benediction, they held a Bl. Sacrement procession. It was the 1st time that one has taken place here. It went perfectly, snaking around the chancel, nave and side aisle.

Darling little sister, I send you my wishes for a happy New Year and the fondest of kisses. Your little sister.
