From sr Genevieve (Celine) to sr Francoise-Therese (Leonie) - December 14, 1930

Beloved little sister

We are thinking of you and of our dear Visitation at this trying time. Your Mother is so gentle and good, and we love her so dearly!

Léonie, we were delighted to hear that you were feeling a bit better and it brought us a welcome respite from our anguish. However we also realised how disappointed you must be to see the hope of your deliverance vanish. Oh, put all your trust in God. You are doing so and we are proud of you. You are imitating our little Thérèse, who said, “It is the same to me whether I live or die and if God had me choose, I would choose nothing,” and also, “It is human nature to prefer to die, yes, but grace has taken such a hold of me that I love nothing but God’s will.”

I am with you, my beloved Léonie, and our little saint never leaves your side. She is no longer at the Carmel but at her little sister’s bedside at the Visitation!

Your Céline, who smothers you with kisses.

Beloved little sister, I’m sending you a picture of the Child Jesus that you’ll like. You are the bunch of grapes that He is pressing so lovingly, in suffering. I am with you and pray for you constantly.
