Dear little sister Françoise-Thérèse,

What bliss it is to be reunited for your feast day again this year, especially after all the emotion we have gone through. You know what my gift is. You know that, on that day, my Communion will be for you. Oh, how ardently I’ll pray to Jesus for my Léonie! I’ll ask Him to sanctify her through our Thérèse and I’m sure He will do so. Listen, what happened to our little saint might not happen to us. I myself believe that she will leave us poor and wretched until the end. If we try to improve ourselves, to correct ourselves of our faults, we must do so “to please Jesus” so that when we see Him, we won’t regret not having done everything we could to prove our love to Him. As for becoming perfect, or almost perfect, we can’t count on it happening. For me, it is the thought of my inadequacies that gives me strength. I desire only one thing, which is that God might take pity on me, and He can only take pity on me if I’m in a pitiful state. It is said in the Scriptures that the Lord leads the strong lamb but carries the weak in His arms. It is there that I want to be.

I often reflect upon the state in which Jesus was placed in his mother’s arms and I can’t aspire to better if I want to arouse Jesus and Mary’s compassion. I let Jesus do with me what He will, but I imagine that cleansing me won’t take long!

Thérèse is saying the same to you, dear little sister, because she wants us to walk the same path since we are aspiring to the same goal.

Once again, happy feast day! I send you all my love. Your loving little sister.
