Dear little sister,

My letter had already left when yours arrived yesterday. You can sign Mrs Cayès’ book; in fact, it would be better if you signed it. But it’s impossible for us to reply to the Abbey because we don’t know what days and times you are available. You could answer via postcard, which would avoid “snags”.Our Mother doesn’t think you can refuse a brief visit from the commissioner or the person who gives you fruit and treats. Sr Marie of the S.H. thinks that you could thank the latter in a letter saying that you cannot go to the visiting room. But do as you wish. Here, we let them give us things without going to the visiting room. These sorts of offerings are very costly!

I send you all my love, dear little sister,

Sr Geneviève of the Holy Face
