Dear little sister,

I’m sending you a note this morning because dear “Godmother"1 caught a cold a few days ago, reviving the lung congestion that she had so much trouble ridding herself of. This morning her temperature was almost 40°c. We sent for the doctor. She is not in any immediate danger as long as her congestion doesn’t degenerate into pneumonia, which could accelerate her condition. We’ll keep you updated.

I assure you, darling Léonie, we must hope that she goes to heaven. If only you knew how frail she is, and what a pitiful state she’s in. She’ll be so happy! Naturally our heart bleeds, but those of us who can see beyond this world “mustn’t grieve like those who have no hope.”

I send you all my love

Sr Geneviève of the Holy Face u.c.n.

Give my affectionate regards to your Mother.

1 Marie of the S.H., Thérèse’s godmother.
