Darling little sister,

Here is our dear eldest sister’s health update: the treatment has had an effect and her temperature has fallen, but the doctor still fears heart failure or a sudden turn for the worse of her congestion. Today, he didn’t come this evening and he won’t come again until tomorrow morning, for there’s no immediate danger. She is still listless, but very aware nonetheless. She doesn’t talk. Yesterday evening, as a precaution, she was given Extreme Unction. She is not in any severe pain, however she moans all night long because of her rheumatism. She rests easier in the daytime. She sleeps almost continually. She is lifted into her wheelchair when awake. She received Extreme Unction in her wheelchair. She is completely surrendered to God’s will. She is a model patriarch. Everything about her breathes simplicity.

Little Léonie, I send you all my love
