Darling little sister,

A little hello and a word about that blessed cotton! I wanted to tell you that the manufacturer doesn’t have any left. Cartier-Bresson doesn’t make it anymore. Our only hope is that there’s a leftover stock in a haberdashery somewhere and I was hoping that we might find it in Caen. Sorry for having given your Turn Sister so much trouble, but it was worth it for a letter from your dear Mother; something I consider very precious! We cherish her, too, and now she is sick again. We share in your suffering. We need to ask St Joseph to cure her. It’s impossible that God should show us such an ideal Mother Superior only to take her away again immediately afterwards. We must believe that He gave her to us and that she will stay with us. He no doubt needs our resignation and trust; He finds so little here below. So we mustn’t waste this opportunity.

With my love, beloved Léonie
