Beloved Léonie,

Apparently you are not recovering, and "your Céline" is worried. And yet how happy you’d be to reach the eternal shore! Your little boat is ploughing through the trough of the golden wave so fast that it will reach heaven’s shore in no time at all. When you have reached the port, remember your Céline, who, like you, longs for heaven. I don’t know which of us desires it more ardently.

I don’t know whether I’ve told you that the Visitation Convent of Le Mans sent our holy aunt’s Constitutions to our Mother, who then gave them to me on 28th April. I do believe they date from the time of St Francis de Sales, because they are very difficult to read. The Vs look like Fs. The word "veuve" is written as "feufe". Are your Constitutions the same? Our Rules and Constitutions are in modern French; they are recent publications.

Give my love to your beloved "Mother Lamb” for us. As for you, my darling, stay with us for a little longer.

Your Céline,

Sr Geneviève of the Holy Face u.c.n.
