Father Théophane Vénard,

priest of the Foreign Missions of Paris.

Born on November 21st, 1829 at St. Loup sur Thouet, beheaded on February 2nd, 1861 in Hanoi.

Thérèse made his acquaintance when reading his biography and correspondence, delighted to find in him a young and happy saint who loved his family. She composed a poem in his honor and kept his portrait before her eyes during her last illness.
